Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mozzarella sticks (whole milk, low-moisture)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Cheese Sticks: Cut mozzarella into 3- to 4-inch sticks if not pre-cut.
- Set Up Breading Station: Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate bowls. Season breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Bread the Sticks: Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coat.
- Freeze: Place breaded sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry cheese sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain and Serve: Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, and serve hot with marinara sauce.
Notes
- For a healthier option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes for a crisp, low-oil alternative.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for crispiness.
