For the Steak:
- 8 oz flank steak, ribeye, or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp white pepper
For the Fried Rice:
- 2 cups cold, cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, minced
- ½ cup frozen peas and carrots (optional)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- ½ tsp sesame oil (for finishing)
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
1️⃣ Marinate the Steak:
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and white pepper.
- Add the sliced steak and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
2️⃣ Cook the Steak:
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
3️⃣ Scramble the Eggs:
- Lower heat to medium, add ½ tbsp of oil, and scramble the eggs. Remove and set aside.
4️⃣ Stir-Fry the Rice:
- Increase heat to high, add ½ tbsp of oil, and sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
- Add the cold rice, breaking up clumps, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
5️⃣ Combine Everything:
- Return steak and eggs to the pan.
- Stir in soy sauce and oyster sauce, mixing well.
- Toss in peas and carrots (if using) and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and stir well.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot!
